For the whole family
Exams and cleanings
Checkups and cleanings for children and adults. A hygienist cleans, and Dr. Kimbrough examines.
Children and adults are seen by the same dentist and the same two hygienists. X-rays are taken when the exam calls for them, and Dr. Kimbrough decides how often, based on your teeth and gums.

Back-to-back visits for a parent and a child

What a visit includes
About an hour for an adult, shorter for a child.
- 01
Step 1: Cleaning
A hygienist removes plaque and tartar, checks your gums and shows you where brushing and flossing can improve.
- 02
Step 2: Exam
Dr. Kimbrough looks at your teeth, gums and bite, and at your mouth and neck for anything that needs a closer look. She goes through what she finds.
- 03
Step 3: Your plan
If something needs treatment, you get the options and a written estimate. If nothing does, you hear when to come back.
Before you decide
Comfort
Tell the hygienist if anything is sensitive. Raise a hand and she stops. Children can have a parent beside the chair.
If you wait
Plaque that stays turns into tartar, which brushing can't remove. Gums that bleed are worth a visit. Small problems found early are simpler to fix.
Care afterward
Gums can feel tender for a day or two after a deep cleaning. We tell you what to expect and what to do if it lasts.
How it's billed
We give you a written estimate before any work starts. Many plans pay part of a routine cleaning and exam; we check yours first. Insurance, paying without it and financing are explained on the fees page.

Questions about exams and cleanings
How often should we come?
Often twice a year, but Dr. Kimbrough decides from your teeth and gums, and some people need to come more or less often.
From what age do you see children?
We see children from about age three. If your child is younger, call and ask; we will tell you plainly whether we are the right fit.
What is a deep cleaning?
A deeper cleaning of the gum line when tartar has built up below it. A hygienist does it, often one side of the mouth at a time, with numbing if you need it.
