Questions we hear

Short answers. For anything not here, call the office.

Do you take my insurance?

It depends on your plan. We are in network with some plans and out of network with others. We check your benefits before your first visit and tell you what we find. The fees page lists the kinds of plans and how we handle each.

What if I don't have insurance?

You pay at the visit, and you get a written estimate first. Financing is offered by third-party lenders; approval and terms are set by the lender.

Do you accept Medicaid or CHIP?

We are not enrolled with Medicaid or CHIP.

Will it hurt?

We numb the area before we work, and we check that it has taken. You may feel pressure. Raise a hand and we stop, and tell us beforehand if you are anxious.

How often do I need X-rays and a cleaning?

Dr. Kimbrough decides from your teeth, gums and history. Many people come twice a year; some need to come more or less often.

What is a deep cleaning?

A deeper cleaning below the gum line where tartar has built up. A hygienist does it, often one side of the mouth at a time.

Do you see children, and from what age?

Yes, from about age three. If your child is younger, call and ask.

What counts as a dental emergency?

Swelling that spreads to your face, eye or neck, trouble breathing or swallowing, or bleeding that won't stop needs an emergency room or 911. A knocked-out or broken tooth, a bad toothache or swelling near one tooth: call the office.

Do you offer sedation?

No. We use local numbing only. If you are very anxious, tell us when you call and we will plan extra time and breaks.

Can I get a written estimate before treatment?

Yes, always. You can take it home before you decide.

Do you have an interpreter?

We see patients in English. You are welcome to bring a family member or an interpreter, and to tell us when you book so we can allow time.

How do I cancel or change a visit?

Call or text the office as early as you can, and we will move it. A day's notice lets someone else have the time.

Does a general dentist place implants?

Some do. Dr. Kimbrough places and restores single implants herself when your mouth suits it, and refers other cases to an oral surgeon.

Can I bring my child and my parent on the same day?

Yes. Ask for back-to-back visits when you book.

Still have a question?

Call us, or send a request and we will answer when we call back.
